A little over 5 months ago back in November of 2014, I came across some fast paced, furious and intense action I’d never witnessed before – wheelchair rugby. Little did I know after shooting that tournament, essentially on a whim, that there was a story to be uncovered on Mr. Eric Newby and a photo opportunity project with STL Magazine.

To read the story on Eric by William Powell follow the link here.

Below you’ll find some of the extra shots we did with Eric as well as a behind-the-scenes of our session if you ever wanted to know what it’s like at one of these sessions. A very special thank you to John Hoette of Hoette Concrete Construction for letting us shoot at their warehouse in the middle of winter. The idea behind the shoot is I wanted a location kind of blue collar and gritty – and warm 🙂

I went back and forth with what I wanted in the background so I lit the background for a few shots to give it that original feel and then we turned the background full black to isolate Eric a bit. Then I wanted just a hint of the background with the black to give us a subtle hint of texture (the very top shot above). I like them all! Thanks Eric for a great shoot!
