See what happens when you hit your busy time of year as a photographer??? Your blog and posts are the first to suffer. No more! A new year means cleaning up AND catching up. Here’s is part 3 of 3 of our 2 week road trip that was featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Home & Away travel section. Part 1: The Badlands was a great way to kick things off and Part 2: Yellowstone was a photographer’s dream come true. We’ll wrap up with the end of our trip, the Grand Tetons. As I said before, I could spend 2 weeks at either one of these locations, but this time around we were just getting a taste of what everything had to offer.

Above: The one picture that best sums up our stay at the Tetons. This was the view from our living room on the lake.  Absolutely stunning. The one memory I will have is playing cards with the family at the table with this to look up at while shuffling.

Above: This shot here was the cover for the Home & Away section for the week.  It was also the one we had talked about trying to get along the way during the 2 weeks. I had several shots at various locations trying to capture the idea of a road trip and our surroundings. None really stood out and I was getting frustrated.  Finally, our last day in the area I stood out along the highway and took a few select shots and finally got the one I wanted. I just knew it.

Above: There wasn’t much for wildlife that we saw during our time in the Tetons but we were lucky to come across a pair of brother bears that roam this particular area.  You can’t miss it – as in Yellowstone as well – cause when someone spots a bear, scores of people and cars will pull over causing jams.  For most people, the view is like on the left and above. You see a black spot moving in the background. For those lucky enough with bigger lenses, you zoom in and get a great look at nature at work.

Above: My favorite shot from Tetons, but at the time I was disappointed.  I was trying to capture a great star field shot of the sky on our 2 weeks and had tried initially up in the Badlands, but it didn’t work out.  My last chance was in the Tetons and that last night a storm came through obscuring the sky.  I went out with my tripod to get what I could and I love it.  Very moody.  Dark. Mysterious.
