2015 06 St. Peters Selects Championship Game Highlights

Posted by on Nov 11, 2015 in Sports | No Comments

My younger son Will and his 06 Selects Squirt team from St. Peters made it into the finals this past weekend of a local tournament vs. a Chicago team and it was my chance to get a few shots of these little guys in action. Below are a few of my favorite shots from the game that I picked out. Unfortunately, the rink we were at was poorly lit (welcome to youth hockey) so the ISO is cranked up on the camera to get enough shutter speed to freeze the action. But I was pretty happy with a few of the shots that came out and thankful that fellow team parent/photographer, Renee Degroat, didn’t mind – too much LOL – that I apparently stole her spot in the penalty box for pics.

My usual “fine print” when I post these photos to share when I’m shooting games for fun: I’m really out shooting for fun and to hopefully get a photo or two of my own kid’s playing from time to time (which I rarely get to do – ask the wife – something about the cobblers kids have no shoes or something). When my kid isn’t out there on the ice, I just follow the puck or what I think might make for a cool shot. I’m really not trying to get every player – not to be mean or exclude anyone, but’s it’s just too stressful and time consuming to do so when I’m shooting for fun. When I finally get a chance to go through images to post, I pick ones I like that come as close to being perfect/really good technically speaking because in the end it representative of my business. So there MAY be some great shots of all the kids, but because of I won’t showcase them. Anyone can use the images and I appreciate if you send people here to see them but if you do want to post on your social media streams, please don’t alter/crop them and just source Luxe Photography if you do want to post elsewhere.

Above: I’ve said this to many people about this team – the pedigree of both coaches we have is like winning Powerball – twice.
