I-44 Travel Story for the Post-Dispatch

Last month we did a really fun travel story road trip for the Post-Dispatch on places to go along I-44 from St. Louis to Springfield. The story ran over the 4th of July weekend and last I had heard regarding just the Facebook analytics for the story, it had ALMOST a 500,000 reach. Too bad Luxe can’t get that kind of traffic! Be sure to read about all the places we stopped at and more with the above link. Below are a few of the pictures that made the paper and of course extras and behind the scenes. Fugitive Beach (the most talked about in the story), Steelville floating at Cobblestone Lodge, the Wild Animal Safari, Wilson’s Creek Civil War battlefield and more! Also, be sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter @LuxePhotoSTL to see our trip as it happens…fun pics and things that quite frankly I can’t submit to the paper.

Above: Floating on the Meramec. Our family of 4 did it first thing in the morning when it was just us and bugs. Apparently, as the day progresses, things get much busier on the river. We’re probably the only Missouri family that thinks we’re actually in danger of drowning while on the river. The family seen here looks much cooler.

Above: Fugitive Beach. Places like this always look like a lot of fun for most people (except for me). Photographing the place was awesome. Lots of families having a blast.

Above: People braver than me…from young to old…all took a jump from one of the cliffs. I was scared enough standing up there taking pictures.

Above: The animals all come right up to the car – which is why they say you have to keep your windows up. This particular ostrich and his gang, took to our sideview mirrors and started attacking their reflections. It was funny until we realized we were in a rental. No damage though!

Above: Trying to leave the park after a torrential downpour, we were stopped by a gang of horses. Literally prevented us from leaving for about 15-20 minutes. I felt like we were being set up for a car jacking.
