4th of July – American Legion Celebration in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

This past weekend, we headed down to Cape Girardeau, Mo. for a special ceremony honoring our WWII veterans. We hadn’t had plans to go actually, until we heard that my grandfather, who is 89 years old, was wanting to go. This, from a man that doesn’t want to go anywhere, maybe due to his age, or his blindness. The only time he’s out is to go to a different doctor’s appointment that he’s forced to go. But he wanted to go to this.

I had only planned on getting a couple of pictures for our family who wanted to go but couldn’t. My grandmother was sick with pneumonia. My mom, who usually is the one that takes both of them everywhere was just finishing up with a night shift at the hospital and couldn’t go. When we arrived, someone approached me, seeing that I had a camera strapped to my body, and asked if I could get and share some pictures as the person that usually did so was not able to attend.
